Tenby Animal Rescue Centre organiser Mrs. Maureen Ward is looking for a kind-hearted soul who can bring some Christmas cheer into the life of one of the centre's newest residents, 'Ellie'.

A terrier-type bitch, aged between four and five years old, 'Ellie' came to the centre in The Glebe earlier this week from the north of the county after suffering a lifetime of neglect by her former owners.

"I wouldn't say she's been badly treated, in so much that she's been beaten, but she's been sorely neglected," Mrs. Ward told the Observer.

"When she came to us she was infested with fleas. The only way we could sort the problem out was to shave her back, so she's got a bit of a lack of hair at the moment, bless her," she smiled.

"She's obviously been left to her own devices a lot and sad to say she seems quite used to being locked up, although when we rescued her, it was apparent that she'd been living outdoors."

Mrs. Ward said that 'Ellie' was a nice natured dog and was fine around children.

"She's good on a lead and she's about threequarters house trained.

"She's very placid and would blend in to any sort of home. I'd just like to see her in a caring home for Christmas."

Mrs. Ward can be contacted on (01834) 843712.
