With the Assembly elections fast approaching what do your candidates think about the environment? Do they care about climate change? Do they support renewable energy? Will they work towards creating a more sustainable Wales?

Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth is giving you the opportunity to pose these questions and many more to representatives of all the major political parties standing in the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire constituency.

The environmental question time will take place at The Bloomfield Community Centre, Redstone Road, Narberth, at 7.30 pm on Tuesday. Complimentary refreshments will be available.

Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth co-ordinator, Ellie Clegg, said: "The people of Pembrokeshire have always been interested in green issues. This is their chance to question local candidates on issues that affect all of our lives, such as proposals to dual the A40 from St. Clears to Haverfordwest, LNG power stations, the dangers of GM crops, recycling and renewable energy technologies."

Assembly campaigner for Friends of the Earth Cymru, Gordon James, added: "Environmental issues, particularly climate change, are now high on the agenda of politicians and the public.

"We have seen some progress in Wales since the Assembly was established, but much more needs to be done. We are too reliant on fossil fuels, too attached to our cars and still throwing three quarters of our waste into landfill sites.

"We need to make sure that our politicians do more to protect the environment and to build a stronger, more sustainable economy with more jobs in public transport, recycling and renewable energy. "We need to keep our fields free of GM crops to protect Welsh agriculture and have a planning system which involves people in decisions that affect their communities."

Friends of the Earth Cymru is organising a number of similar meetings around Wales.
