Tenby’s forthcoming Mayor-making ceremony will make it an eighth term in office for one of the town’s best-known councillors, who has used ‘flower power’ on more than one occasion to brighten up the resort

At Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane was the only councillor around the table to put her name forward for the hot seat, and will become Tenby’s 628th.

Clr. Mrs. Lane, who is the current Deputy Mayor, and chairman of Tenby in Bloom, has been described as the driving force behind the resort’s floral success.

Taking over from current Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, it will be the first time that Clr. Mrs. Lane, has taken on the role since 2014.

She will officially don the scarlet robes of office at the Mayor-making ceremony some time in May, on the proviso that she is re-elected earlier that month.
