THIS term, the whole school at Ysgol Llys Hywel, Whitland has celebrated and engaged in a wide variety of important events and activities, including Mental Health Week, NHS workshops, Healthy Eating Week, World Ocean Day and VE Day commemorations.

Added to these were drowning prevention awareness, and internet safety talks led by PC Cath. Pupils also took part in ‘Fy Mhlat Bwyd’ at the Carmarthenshire Showground, performed proudly in the Proms, and contributed to fundraising efforts by donating recycled clothes through the Bag2School programme.

Through these diverse experiences, pupils have developed a broad range of skills, enriching their knowledge and understanding of their community and the wider world.

Ysgol Llys Hywel was privileged to welcome local minister, Guto Gweinidog, for his final talk with the school. The Whitland school extends all best wishes to him as he continues his role in a different area. Diolch, Guto!

The staff express their sincere thanks to all the visitors who have shared their time, expertise and enthusiasm through talks and workshops. Each contribution has made a real difference to pupils’ learning and growth.

Beyond the regular school activities, pupils have also enthusiastically taken part in a variety of enriching extra-curricular events. Highlights include a heartwarming coffee morning fundraiser that successfully raised £700 in support of the Chemo Unit at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli.

Students enjoyed an exciting Rotary trip to Folly Farm. Transition days helped Year 6 pupils prepare confidently for their next stage of education, and Years 5 and 6 students benefited from a residential trip to Llangrannog.

Additionally, summer trips to Hangar 5 and Sgiliau gave pupils hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity and creativity beyond the classroom walls. What a busy term it has been!
