Stepaside CP School have been putting local community at the heart of their recent harvest celebrations, with pupils learning about local families who are in need and how organisations like PATCH, are offering support.

Taking positive steps to support local families the school organised a collection of food items for the local food bank run by PATCH (Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship).

“As part of their Harvest celebrations, pupils learnt about communities who are in need and collected tinned food to be distributed in the locality. Thank you for your generous donations,” said Stepaside Head Teacher, Mr P Jones.

Stepaside teacher, Katie Chandler Hall, contacted Sharron Hardwick (of Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty and surrounding areas), to organise for the collection of these items which will be given to the Tenby branch of PATCH.

This month thanks to generous donations from Stepaside CP, residents of Kilvelgy Park, Kilgetty, and John and Jane Whitby, Begelly - Tinman Tuesday Kilgetty have gathered a great number of items to donate to PATCH.

“PATCH are once again overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of Pembrokeshire,” said PATCH manager Dave Golding.

“A huge thank you to Stepaside and St Oswald Schools for their harvest donations, and to everybody who has donated, especially John and Jane Whitby and Sharron AKA Tinman Tuesday.”

As the cold weather approaches the donations gathered by the pupils of Stepaside CP will help to provide warm food for families struggling to make ends meet in the local area.

Rebecca Rees who runs Tenby based PATCH is overwhelmed with gratitude.

“Every day we are meeting with local people who are facing some really desperate times,” she said.

“Yesterday I delivered a parcel to a lovely family from the homeless hostel in Tenby, they are really struggling, so much so they couldn’t afford the bus fare to accompany their child to school.

“It is thanks to the frequent and generous donations via Tinman Tuesday that we can continue to support people like this. Thank you for your kind donations.”
