Securing a job in the sports industry can be difficult for young people, but a new initiative launching September 2020 is here to help 16 to 18 year olds in Pembrokeshire.

Ysgol Greenhill School in Tenby have joined forces with LLS, a global leader in post-16 education to deliver a sixth form sports course which has been designed to put young people in pole position when it comes to applying for jobs in this competitive sector.

One lucky student from the initial cohort will be sponsored by LLS in summer 2022 to represent the company working on overseas sports camps in one of the following countries: USA, Canada, Qatar or Sri Lanka.

LLS’ sports industry programme was first launched in Liverpool in 2008 and it now leads the way across England, Ireland, North Wales and Qatar in the Middle East.

The companies innovative delivery model enables young people to access not only a full-time Level 3 qualification, but weekly work experience in the local community.

A panel of ambassadors from the elite level of sport support LLS students with career advice and guidance, one of the most popular being Michael Beale (pictured), a UEFA Pro License football coach who works alongside Steven Gerrard at Rangers FC in Scotland.

Michael said: “It’s important to understand what makes you happy and motivated and to follow that passion with full commitment.

“The work opportunities for sporting students with LLS, and their employment partners, create an excellent foundation for a career in sport.”

To demonstrate the inspirational impact LLS’ guest speakers can have, the company have organised an invitation only Zoom conference call for people in Pembrokeshire set to take place with Michael Beale on Monday, May 11 at 6 pm.

As places are limited, the invitation is open to teachers, U16 football managers and their players. To receive an invitation, simply email yourfuture@llsonline.uk
