THE winners of this year’s Friends of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Children’s Literary Competition were presented with their prizes at Oriel Y Parc, St. Davids, on April 8.
The competition has been held annually since 2012 to encourage young people to write about the National Park and what makes it special for them. It is open to pupils from all Pembrokeshire schools and also to children visiting the National Park from other parts.
The competition invites children to explore and relate to the National Park and its special qualities. Entries can be in either poetry or prose and prizes are awarded for age ranges primary (nine-11 years) and secondary (12-14 years).
Over 70 entries were received for this year’s competition, which was judged by Stephen Drinkwater (chairman FPCNP), Carys Jones and Ann Morris.

Primary age group - 1. Freya Lynch, Roch CP School; 2. Libby Banner, Roch CP School; 3. Eivissa Milne, Roch CP School
Highly Commended: Harry Musselwhite, Roch CP School.
Commended: Ebony Scott, Roch CP School, Grace Stoddard, Roch CP School and Isabelle Davies, Roch CP School.
Secondary age group - 1. Seren Rees, Ysgol y Preseli; 2. Ella S. Wintle, Ysgol y Preseli; 3. Ella Merritt, Ysgol Bro Gwaun.
Highly Commended: Annabel Dunstan, Welwyn Garden City, and Seren Griffiths, Ysgol y Preseli.
Commended: Alonwy Roberts, Ysgol Bro Gwaun, George Davies, Ysgol Bro Gwaun and Kyle Colella, Ysgol Bro Gwaun.

The Friends of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a charity with over 300 members whose stated aim is to help to protect, conserve and enhance the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
