After 28 years of running New Hedges Nursery, Sue Billington is selling up and retiring.

Sue, formerly a teacher in both the state and private sector, used her knowledge and expertise in childcare and early years education to provide high quality care and facilities for two to four-year-olds.

When planning the nursery, she put her beliefs into practice that small children should be in a small facility that would essentially be home from home. The positive environment made an atmosphere at New Hedges Nursery where hundreds of children became confident in expressing themselves, communicating with others and were able to form friendships, all the time learning through play.

The nursery has been very fortunate to have had many wonderful people on the staff. Some came with qualifications, but many enthusiastically trained on the job. For Sue, it has been a real pleasure to have worked with people so dedicated to their aims of ensuring that every child at nursery had the best possible experience in their education, whilst fully supporting their development.

Sue commented that the 28 years had gone very quickly. In fact so quickly that in recent years, the nursery welcomed the children of parents who had attended the nursery themselves.

Sue would like to thank all the parents for their tremendous support over the years, adding that there had been so many joyous days at nursery spent playing, nurturing and educating their young children.
