Digital Competency Framework

Since the start of term, teaching staff at Greenhill School have been busy implementing the new cross curriculum Digital Competency Framework which was suggested by the Donaldson Report. This report was commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government to identify ways of developing the Welsh Education system. One of the key areas highlighted by the report was the use of technology outside of normal ICT lessons.

With the assistance of myself (Mr. Mark Davies) and Year 10 digital leaders (Charlie, Tyler, Joseph H, Jack and Joseph F) staff have been identifying areas within their departments where ICT is currently being used well.

For example, our PE Department are using iPads to record a session of physical activity. After the activity is complete, the students can then rewind the footage to show how they could improve their technique. Not only that, departments have also identified areas where ICT could be used for the first time, as well as areas where ICT could be used more effectively.

Integrating the Digital Competency Framework into Greenhill School is well under way, and I look forward to updating you in our next digital newsletter.
