Jane Hutt AM will speak in Tenby on Saturday morning, June 20, at St. Teilo's Church Hall, at 11.30 am.

Jane Hutt was elected as the first AM for the Vale of Glamorgan in 1999. She lives with her family in Barry. She was educated at the University of Kent, the London School of Economics and Bristol University and has lived and worked in Wales since 1972. Her Welsh-speaking grandparents lived in North Wales.

From 1981-1983, she was a member of South Glamorgan County Council representing the Cardiff Riverside Ward. She has worked in many roles concerning housing, tenant participation and the 'Fair Play' movement.

From 1999-2005, she served as Minister of Health and Social Services. During this time, together with former AM Christine Gwyther, she took a leading part in achieving the new Cottage Hospital A&E, Day Unit and other services at the new building in Butts Field, Tenby. She also helped bring to fruition the Tenby Cottage Ward at Park House Court, Tenby.

Her work dealing with a great deal of negative information at Withybush Hospital, involved a battle that she won - and Withybush Hospital was greatly improved as the result of massive investment - not closed.

She is now Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, she is a well-known author and an honorary fellow of UWIC and a member of Unison.

The Tenby and District Branch of the Labour Party invite all those interested in education to attend on Saturday, June 20, at 11.30 am.
