The May meeting was held in the East Williamston Community Hall recently and was preceded by the annual general meeting which was attended by all councillors, except one. There were no members of the community in attendance.

The election of officers for the forthcoming year resulted as follows: chairman - Clr. J. Codd; vice- chairman - Clr. D. Poole; clerk/responsible finance officer - Mr. G. Pegg; internal auditor - Clr. Wilkinson.

The formal procedures of accepting the previous annual general meeting minutes etc completed, council considered the resignation tendered by one long-serving member and agreed unanimously that the member be requested to reconsider.

Following the presentation of the receipts and payments of account, a copy of the projected expenditure for 2006/7 already agreed within the council precepts at £13,000 was also made available.

During the normal monthly meeting, it was pleasing to learn that the Jubilee Park and Nature Trail project, undertaken by the East Williamston Community and Hall Association, was regarded as one of the highest rated projects by Environment Wales. Routine inspections of play areas had revealed the necessity for some repair/maintenance work and this had already been put in hand.

As was reported last month, work had commenced on the mains sewerage scheme scheduled for East Williamston and progress would be reported periodically.

Requests for speed calming in Pentlepoir had not been received by the authorities with enthusiasm following the replacement of illuminated signs, however, the situation would continue to be monitored. A request for a reduction from 40 mph to 30 mph through Cold Inn and East Williamston, while being approved and supported by the police traffic section, was refused by Pembrokeshire County Council.

Council received the following planning applications: change of use of farm building into boxing gymnasium at Prouts Park Farm, East Williamston; development of agricultural building at Church Farm, East Williamston; revised block plan re. land adjacent to The White House, Hill Rise, Kilgetty; demolition of poultry sheds and erection of stables and barn at Evening Star Bungalow, Pentlepoir; erection of building for office/training facility on ground floor and three bedroom flat on first floor at Wooden; demolition of existing dwelling and erection of new dwelling at Little Beaconing, Templebar Road, Pentlepoir Information was also received that permission was granted for the following: conversion of farm building to form dwelling at Church Farm, East Williamston; bedroom extension at 26 Hill Rise, Kilgetty.

Permission was refused for the construction of dormer bungalow and garage (outline) at The Burgage, Valley Road, Saundersfoot.

An application for the demolition of the petrol station at The Old Pump House Filling Station. Pentlepoir, was withdrawn.

Enquiries regarding a bus shelter at Hill Rise were postponed owing to time restrictions, Whilst it was noted that PCC were to be complimented on their work in Templebar Road, deterioration of the road through Pentlepoir must be reported, it was also felt that the speed limit along Templebar Road should be extended An offer to meet the director of education regarding the closure of Pentlepoir School was accepted and would take place at a time to be arranged.

Finally, council wished to express condolences to the family of Mr. Ken Richards who served the community as a councillor and had recently passed away.
