A St David’s man has appeared in court after being charged with being drunk and disorderly after he was thrown out of a licensed premises in Fishguard.
Twenty-five-year-old Rudi Rowson, of Bryn Road, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place, following an incident outside the RAFA Club on January 12.
Prosecutor Sophie Hill told the court that police officers were called to the premises during the early hours of Saturday, after the defendant was seen to be kicking and banging the front door of the club, after previously being ejected from the premises.
“He’d had too much to drink, and it took five members of staff to remove Mr. Rowson from the premises initially,” she explained.
When police officers arrived, Mr. Rowson was clearly intoxicated and slurring his words, with only the wall of the club enabling him to stay on his feet.
The court heard how after his arrest, Mr. Rowson headbutted the rear cage of the police vehicle that he was transported to the station in.
Magistrates also heard that the defendant’s last appearance in court in 2012 was for a similar matter, when he was charged in relation to being drunk on a highway.
Addressing magistrates himself, Mr. Rowson told them that he was not alcohol dependent, but that he had used it around this time as a coping mechanism following the breakdown of a relationship. He explained that since the incident, he had not touched a drop of alcohol.
Magistrates fined the defendant £115 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
