As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), an investigation was continuing into a tragic road accident in South Pembrokeshire.

The accident, involving a refuse lorry and a Ford KA, occurred on the A477 near London Road, Pembroke Dock, shortly after 10 am on Tuesday.

Sadly, the 82-year-old driver of the car passed away. He was later named by police as Harold Glyn Rowlands from the Cosheston area.

HM Coroner has been informed.

The three occupants of the Pembrokeshire County Council 26-tonne refuse lorry were unhurt, but shaken.

The road was closed for most of the day whilst the emergency services dealt with the accident.
