Sir,
I was not surprised that our MP, Mr Simon Hart, reported the RSPCA to the Charity Commission when it brought a successful private prosecution against members of the Heythrop Hunt, but was surprised to learn that, after having lost that argument and been reprimanded by his own party, he again brought a debate to Westminster on Tuesday this week on the subject: 'The role of the RSPCA as a prosecutor'.
The Countryside Alliance, connected to the Countryside Alliance Foundation (a charity), spent enormous sums of money trying to overturn the 2004 Hunting Act through every court imaginable when Mr. Hart was then its chief executive.
Double standards, I think?
He should remember that as an MP, his job is to work for the people of his constituency, at least 76 per cent of whom are opposed to hunting, and he should stop wasting parliamentary time and taxpayers money.
