Sir,

What a pity the meeting called by South Pembs Community Health Network at New Hedges Village Hall on Tuesday, September 4, was not made fully supported.

Present to speak on behalf of the NHS Trust were Dr. Roberston-Steel, Hospital Director of Clinical Care and Medical Director of Hywel Dda Board, and David Morrissey, speaking about present and future arrangements for the three county regions.

Chairman Mansel Thomas and Clr. Caroline Thomas work tirelessly for the SEPCHN. There was a good audience present, but in view of the very serious nature of the consultation, the hall should have been packed, to listen to what is being proposed.

Once again, Tenby Cottage Hospital is in the invidious position of being targeted for cuts; the Health Board proposing that the Minor Injuries Unit there - and at South Pembs. - being scheduled for closure (unless the public create such a furore that they have their minds changed).

I would urge local people to obtain and complete the consultation questionnaire put out by Opinion Research Services on behalf of Hywel Dda Health Board. You can get a copy from the board by writing to them at Freepost, Hywel Dda Health Board, or on line at http://www.hywelddahb.Wales.nhs.uk/consultation">www.hywelddahb.Wales.nhs.uk/consultation.

There will also be some at the De Valence, Tenby.

All completed questionnaires must be returned by October 29.

It is only six years since Tenby Cottage Hospital was opened. We were promised so much for it at that time, and there is no doubt the facilities are there to provide excellent service. Don't let us lose the excellent MIU through apathy.

Mollie Neate,

Tenby.
