Sir, The last time I wrote to you was in July 1986 about the need for a pooper scooper culture.

At that time, my young children and many others had the misfortune of ‘finding’ dog mess regularly on the North and Harbour beaches.

Thankfully, in the ’80s, the councillors were wise enough to put a May 1 - September 30 ban on dogs on those beaches. Ever since, there has been a marked improvement.

My concern now is that, as Easter falls in April for at least the next five years, the same dog mess appears on the North and Harbour beaches during April. Also, big boisterous dogs come up to young children and sometimes knock them over.

The way to avoid this is to stop dogs coming onto the beaches with effect from March 1 each year.

By doing this, the councillors will improve North and Harbour beaches at a very busy time of the year.

This will be a further incentive for Easter visitors coming to Tenby.

Nick Hale,

Croft Court,

Tenby.
