Military heritage and the military of the present day come together tomorrow (Saturday) when the twin communities of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock mark Armed Forces Day.

For a second year, the focus will be on the Royal Dockyard Chapel, now Pembroke Dock’s Heritage Centre, where a service will take place and there will be displays by the modern military. Local organisations will also have stalls.

A parade will start from the Community School at 10.30 am and will march along Bush Street to the Dockyard Chapel. There a service will be led by the Rev Rob James, chaplain to the Mayor of Pembroke, Clr. Dennis Evans. Joining the Mayor will be Pembroke Dock’s Mayor, Clr. Maureen Colgan, and civic and community representatives.

The Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre again hosts the event and there will be free entry to the Centre on the day. The Centre has many displays reflecting the area’s long and successful connections with all three Armed Services.
