Sir,
I feel I must answer the comments in the story in this paper dated May 27, ‘Council calls for crackdown on flyposting’.
Being as Sue Lane only named me as the person putting posters up in the town, I think there is much to be said.
I put my posters up advertising my craft fair on the same posts as the wrestling posters (I’m not daft!), which was held in the De Valence, owned by the council, and as I thought, they didn’t remove there’s (as if they would!) or mine for that duration of about three weeks. After their event was held, they took their posters down and mine, but not other people’s posters or A frames around the town!
Being as they left other people’s up, I put mine up next to them to see if they would take only mine again. And they did! So I thought this is wrong and put them up again next to others to test for sure if they are targeting me. And again the others right next to mine left up and mine gone.
The council then send a letter threatening prosecution if my boards and posters are up again. Since then, the other boards and posters are still up. The circus ones are up everywhere and not touched by the council. Café ones are still up every day for months. A Frames in streets, especially outside the pubs. Boards on main roads at New Hedges near the place I had mine and they haven’t been touched. The wrestling is coming up in the De Valence again in July, so no posters will be allowed up to advertise it, will they! It’s illegal! Otherwise that is discrimination. I think that’s illegal!
Do people really think this is fair?
Sue Lane used the word ‘illegal’ to have mine up, so isn’t it ‘illegal’ for everyone?
I am sending photographs to PCC which I took just after the last time mine were taken down to show all the ones that were left up. You couldn’t have got more posters, A-Frames, bike on double yellow lines advertising business, goods outside shops, prams and wheelchairs going into roads to avoid A-Frames, scooters on pavements (about 300).
One very windy day, an A-Frame in Upper Frog Street keeled over and hit a lady and she fell to the ground and I picked her up. My posters have never caused harm to anyone.
What do you think Tenbyites?
