Cleddau Community Arts, with the support of Rising Tide Interreg IVA Project, are organising The Afon Cleddau Music and Dance Festival in Haverfordwest on September 14, 15 and 16. During the weekend, there will be diverse genres of music.
Friday 14th at The Pavilion, Withybush Showground will be a 'Swing Night' with Tony Jacobs, accompanied by Jim Barry, and support from the Dennis Wheeler Swing Band, The Tomcats, Aaron Lewis and Gemma Johnson, starting 7 pm.
Tony Jacobs was the male vocalist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and laterly with the Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra. He has developed his own shows which included devising The Gershwin Years and The Sinatra Years. He is one of the Uk's foremost swing band vocalists and it will be a delight to welcome him to Haverfordwest where he will be singing Gershwin and Rat Pack songs accompanied by his band's pianist.
A 'Soul and Blues Night' will be staged on Saturday 15th, also at The Pavilion, Withybush Showground, from 7 pm. This will feature 2010 Mojo Award Winner Eddie Martin and His Big Blues Band, with support from Dale Storr and Kim and Pembrokeshire's own Blues man Pat grover and his Blue Hawkes.
Headline act Eddie Martin is one of the UK's most dynamic performers; he is a live act not to be missed; he is a MOJO award winner and his band's recent album is getting rave reviews. Eddie honed his skills in the States and heads what is being regarded as the best blues band in the UK at this moment. It will be an evening just not to be missed by anyone who loves the Blues and for you Jivers out there, he plays a mean jump Jive set too.
If that doesn't sound completely special, then Sunday at 7 pm sees the Picton Community Centre play host to some of Wales most popular musicians with the smooth melodies of Gildas, the beautiful clear tones of Lowri Evans and the high octane dynamics of Calan, truly a very special evening for Haverfordwest, bringing the highest quality of modern Welsh Culture to the county town.
All evening performances will be ticketed performances only and tickets can be purchased from either Victoria Bookshop or at the Old Gallery Shop, Riverside Shopping, between 10 am and 2 pm, Monday to Saturday.
