Tenby’s own Long Course Weekend four times winner Oliver Simon unfortunately had to miss out on taking part in the full Long Course Weekend.

“As it’s a home town race on such a large scale, I wanted to be part of the atmosphere by taking my place in the swim and bike,” Olly told us.

“I set myself the target of having a strong swim and bike to be fastest combined before the marathon. I got to swim with the fastest girls like Jazz Carlin and came in a swift 47 minutes, first of the LCW athletes.

“Bike day was perfect. I wasn’t off the ramp so could ride like I used to with local Chris Holman and fourth overall Phil Tucker. We worked well and I loved passing the miles together to the fastest times of the day 5:10, goal achieved over six minutes ahead of anyone else.

“It was a hot day for everyone on the run, but it looked amazing as a spectator.

“Thanks to Mike’s Bikes, Haverfordwest, CEEPO, Pedal Cover, Eddie Rocks and Groom Property Maintenance.”
