Sir,

I am disappointed that Tenby Town Council have removed the noticeboard at the end of The Croft, before they have worked out where it will go.

There was a full public consultation process that went before its installation (yes, this included Tenby Town Council and each and every one of Tenby's citizens who were offered an opportunity to express an opinion). There was sponsorship of the costs, from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - they paid for the map, which has now also been taken away - and from other organisations who supported the concept that Tenby's future economic vitality is entwined with creating events to encourage visitors to come to the town, especially during the nine months when they wouldn't normally come. And the removal of the noticeboard has removed an opportunity of informing both visitors and residents about events that are going to happen.

So, some bright spark has come up with the idea of giving the noticeboard to a school. Did the Town Council think it appropriate to consult the other sponsors of the boards? No. Did the Town Council think of how they might replace the provision of information about events with another source, so as to continue to encourage visitors to come to Tenby, especially outside of the main season? No. Did the Town Council monitor how well the information in the noticeboard was being conveyed? No. (It was a singular success - everyone noticed the notice-board and thus the notices inside the notice-board).

So, how are the Town Council going to replace that provision of information and thus continue underpinning Tenby's economic vitality?
