Sir,

Re. your front page article, last week, I was somewhat disappointed by Inspector Clark's response to my letter highlighting the public order offences in the South Parade/Trafalgar Road area of Tenby. I deliberately kept my original letter to the facts of the situation. I live and I work in this area. I know the facts.

Inspector Clark, rather than addressing the problem, has chosen to exaggerate, sensationalise and ridicule the points raised. It seems to me he is keener to attract press headlines than solving the problem.

This form of response, I am sorry to say, is typical of some of the spin-doctoring type defences we so often see now.

Most of the inspector's reply was deliberately obtuse and had little or no connection with the problem posed. For example, he has chosen to highlight the possibility of off-licences breaking the law, when I specifically said they were not.

My original letter was written in protest at the seemingly endless stream of damage that is being caused, by this group, to properties in this area.

Personally I have had nine broken upstairs windows, and further damage to woodwork and roof.

I also took the opportunity to point out there was extensive damage to other properties in the area, including the town walls.

As the current police treatment of this public order problem seems to have only a very short term effect, I again suggest the possibility of taking an Anti-Social Behaviour Order against the worst of these miscreants.

Dennis Lynne Thomas,

The Kandy King,

Trafalgar Road,

Tenby.
