Tenby Bowling Club hosted the R. F. Diment Cup Final last Saturday for what was to be the last major event of the summer bowling season. The two teams involved were the current county champions, Saundersfoot, who were seeking the elusive double, up against the Coastal Cottages sponsored Tenby side. On rink two, Terry Howells got the Tenby side off to a flying start. His rink of Dai Spencer, Reg Thake and Jon Webb were dominant from the outset and cruised to an impressive 13-shot victory. Rink three turned out to be a much closer affair. The Tenby rink of Steve Taylor Ashley Hooper, Peter Hooper and skip Andrew Muskett got the better in the early stages, but the Saundersfoot lads came back at the death and managed to salvage a well-fought draw. Captain Pat Currie, ably assisted by Sam McNeilly, Brian Diment and Craig Guymer, kept it very tight in their match. Neither side dropped more than two shots an end in their match, but the Tenby lads managed to squeeze out a seven-shot victory. Last up were Gerald Hewitt, Bill Bailey, Terry Preston and skip Peter Day. Peter's impressive men were on top form, in fact they only dropped shots on four of the 21 ends in a massive 23-shot success. The final outcome was a resounding 43-shot victory for Tenby, giving them the much-coveted silverware. Captain Pat Currie then had the honour of receiving the magnificent R. F. Diment Trophy from county president, Arwel Edwards. In his post-match speech, Pat thanked the team for their support throughout the season, along with sponsors Coastal Cottages and the tireless support of the ladies producing the tea for every home game. Finally, a tribute was paid to Sam McNeilly, who the previous evening announced his retirement from the first team. Sam, who always gave 100 per cent when he wore the blue shirt, will be sorely missed by the side next year. Rink scores (Tenby first, Saundersfoot skips only): Gerald Hewitt, Bill Bailey, Terry Preston, Peter Day 30; S. Poole 7. Steve Taylor, Ashley Hooper, Peter Hooper, Andrew Muskett 23; P. Diment 23. Sam McNeilly, Brian Diment, Craig Guymer, Pat Currie 17; D. Poole 10. Dai Spencer, Reg Thake, Jon Webb, Terry Howells 28; J. Baggott 15.

County president Arwel Edwards is seen with the successful Tenby side.
