As part of the party's campaign for affordable housing, Plaid Cymru - the Party of Wales politicians have drawn attention to the impact of holiday homes in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. County councillor Mike Williams, of Tenby, showed Plaid's Parliamentary leader, Elfyn Llwyd, and Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire candidate, John Dixon, a house in the resort which has recently been sold for £450,000, for use as a holiday home. "This level of prices is beyond comprehension," said Mr. Dixon. "It is no wonder that local people are being priced out of the market when fairly modest homes are fetching this sort of price.  "We need to take firm action to control and manage the housing market so that young people can afford to buy homes in their own communities. Plaid have put a package of measures together on which we are currently consulting.  "Amongst those measures are changes to stamp duty which would exempt houses up to a level reflecting the average price, and impose stamp duty at the highest rate to the entire price of second homes." FOOTNOTE: Following the recent launch of their consultative document on affordable housing, Plaid Cymru - the Party of Wales politicians will be taking to the streets throughout Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire to ask the people of the two counties for their views on the document.  Tomorrow (Saturday) will see the party talking to people at a number of towns throughout the area. Preseli/Pembroke candidate Matt Mathias will be at Fishguard between 10 and 11 am,  Newport from 11 am until 12 noon and Crymych from 1 until 2 pm. Meanwhile, Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire candidate, John Dixon, will be in the centre of Narberth at 10 am and the centre of Tenby from 12 noon.
