A warm welcome to the second Sunday in Advent service was given to all by Mrs. Jean Grimes. Prior to a reading from Isaiah, chapter 11, telling of the coming of Jesus, Miss Barbara Wilcox lit the second candle in the Advent wreath - the candle of preparation.
Mr. Chris Llewellyn led the service, which included traditional carols, prayers and the communion. Chris spoke on the final episode in the life of Joseph found in Genesis, chapter 46.
He pointed out the importance of each life in the eyes of God. As the family of Joseph were brought into Egypt from Canaan so for Christians they are 'strangers and pilgrims in this world', 'for he (God) has prepared a city for them' (Hebrews, chapter 11).
Thursday morning parent-toddlers group will meet next week as usual.
