Mrs. Joyce Owen welcomed friends on entering the church hall. Being the first Sunday in Advent, the candle in the Advent wreath was lit to remind us as Christians of hope - Advent being a season when we are encouraged to focus our thoughts on the second coming of Christ, as well as His first coming.
The family news and prayer time were led by Mr. Bryn Rees, the music and worship time being in the capable hands of Tessa, Barbara, Nan, Frank and Pam. David Kinnard had produced some very colourful backgrounds to the words of the songs projected on the screen, which helped in the praise time and the reading of the scriptures.
The reading and sermon were given by Rev. Tom McManus from Pembroke.
Tom chose his reading, and based his sermon from the first chapter of Luke, detailing the events surrounding the birth of John the Baptist. He mentioned the joy that the birth brought to the parents, family and friends. The birth was a miracle; the naming of John also resulted in another miracle.
Tom compared these events with the life of Christians when they follow Christ; there is a joy in their lives. Jesus often brings healing to a troubled world through the lifestyle of a Christian.
The parent toddler group met on Thursday and had a pleasing time.
Next Thursday, December 11, the churches together in Tenby will be holding community Christmas praise in St. Mary's Church at 7 pm.
