The normal congregation on Sunday was considerably augmented by two large groups of friends from Baptist Churches in Erith, Kent and Lancashire.  They were welcomed by Mrs. Helen Hills and the family news and notices were given by Mr. Nic Sutton. The worship songs were chosen by Miss Sue Lordan. On the keyboard was Mrs. Trina Sutton; she was accompanied on the guitar by her son Bryn. Prayer time was introduced by two young members of the Junior Lightseekers Club, reading prayers they had composed themselves. The Rev. Peter Richmond told the church about his work over the last year concerning prayers for the suffering church in the world, after which prayers were shared by several friends present. Psalm 133 was read and this formed the basis of Peter's sermon which focused on unity. Unity among the children of Israel, but more importantly unity among Christians. This is what being church means. Doing what God wants. Unity does not mean uniformity. After the service, friends joined together for fellowship over refreshments in the church hall.
