The two-minute silence to remember those who gave their lives in conflict was observed at the start of the service. This theme was echoed during the open prayer time, which was led by Dene Hardwick, who had served in the Armed Forces. After the worship time, led by Mrs. Trina Sutton, Pastor Tom Torok read the familiar story of the woman who was due to be stoned by the Pharisees after being guilty of adultery, and how Jesus dealt with the situation. Jesus did not condemn her for her action, but showed compassion and went one stage further when he offered her correction, 'Go now and leave your life of sin.' Compassion without a working correction isn't love. This story presents all of us with challenges, choices, and changes in our day- to-day living when faced with the difficulties regarding forgiveness for those who have caused pain and suffering.
