Sir,
I have just read the article 'New notice boards come under fire' in this week's Tenby Observer.
My hotel, Castle View Hotel on the Norton, is the one in Gareth Davies's picture of the hideous men holding the new notice board. I totally agree with the Deputy Mayor that 'it obscures quite a bit of the view of the harbour.' Believe me, I had one of the most unspoilt, pictureque views of the sea and harbour anyone could ever wish for. Now thanks to the Tenby Chamber of Trade and the De Valence Trust etc, the view that my guests took a deep breath and said 'wow what a view - I could sit here all day and look at that'- has, sadly gone.
I thank Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain for her views, but in my opinion are too polite in saying they look like two Russian brutalist workers - believe me I could beat that description.
Thank heavens that as a complementary therapist, I was given the opportunity in life to help people who were less fortunate than me, because now I say a prayer for all those people who could not care about how their stupid decision has ruined The Norton. Brides used to have photos taken directly from this spot - I am sure they wouldn't like these two men sharing their wedding photo album.
All I can hope for is that one day soon a coach or council van will knock those two men down. I will personally pay for them to be erected outside any councillor's house who would like to look at them - all day and every day for the rest of their lives and give back the view which is the one this lovely grade 2 listed house and hotel has had for 170 years! It surely was one of the most beautiful views in Wales.
Mrs. Judy Courie,
The Norton,
Tenby.
