A decision on whether a controversial Tetra mast will be given permission to be erected in Penally will not be determided until after a site visit. With residents of the village strongly opposed to the application put forward by telecommunications company MMO2, Pembrokeshire County Council's planning committee voted unanimously at a meeting on Tuesday to visit the site before making a decision. Backing the site visit, Clr. Brian Hall said that clearly an issue that caused such high public attendance for a meeting should merit a site visit. Ann Dassen, of the Penally Against Tetra Action Group, commented after the vote:. "We are relieved obviously, and are very grateful to members of the planning committee for proposing to visit the site and see how close it is to the Harriet Davis Trust." If approved, the application would see the mast sited close to the Harriet Davis Seaside Holiday Trust for Disabled Children. MMO2 originally submitted the application to erect a mast in Penally last June. However, after the county council failed to make a decision on the original application, the company appealed to the Welsh Assembly. Following the landmark ruling on Uzmaston by the Planning Inspectorate last January, the telecommunications company submitted a parallel planning application for the Penally mast to county council.
