HM Coroner for Pembrokeshire has confirmed that the death of a new mother was not linked to that of a GP who hanged himself after taking an overdose. Dr. Paul Goodson, aged 45, from Crundale, Haverfordwest, was found dead at Scoveston Woods, Neyland, on August 10, after taking a large injection of morphine. Dr. Goodson, a senior partner in the Law Street Surgery in Pembroke Dock, took his own life the day after the death of mother-of-two Alison Webster, of Sageston, whom he had visited as part of his duties as an out-of-hours on-call doctor. At an inquest into Dr. Goodson's death yesterday (Thursday), Coroner Michael Howells said that he had made a full investigation, but the cause of him taking his own life had nothing to do with Mrs. Webster's death. Detectives had found a card addressed to Mrs. Goodson in his car, stating that he could "no longer go on any more and felt that he was in a bad way." Meanwhile, an inquest into 23-year-old Mrs. Webster's death has been adjourned.
