Sir, It was disappointing to read last week of Darren Knipe's sacking from the De Valence. We don't know Darren and don't know the circumstances, but someone with his background will surely be hard to find. When the future plans for the De Valence were announced, we were really excited as in our opinion it was long overdue. We have been holidaying here for 25 years and actually came to live here four years ago and we feel the De Valence has not been used to its full potential in the past. Darren and his team had plans to suit all, such as community and arts events, but the most exciting thing to us was the idea of inviting top named British bands here. We came here from the West Midlands and there was a similar venue there called The Robin. It was started by one man, Mike Hamblett, in an old pub with a large hall attached. This venue became a great success having many well-known American and British bands performing there. He has now moved to an even bigger venue. This is what Tenby needs. We like choir music and classical, too, but Tenby should be catering for everyone's tastes. Let's hope that Darren's plans are followed through and the team are allowed to get on with the job of making the De Valence a place everyone will want to go to. By the way, we are both over 60 and still rockin'!
