esterday (Thursday), but Wednesday saw the unofficial version - involving a footballer who hails from Tenby.
David Jones may now reside on the other side of the world in Sydney, Australia, but he’s back in the northern hemisphere for the major football event, touring France to watch every game with university friends.
Ahead of the big clash, an eight-a-side match was held with like-minded English supporters in Lens.
The match finished 5-2 to Wales. Was that a good omen for the main event?
And David, who played for Tenby AFC and Pembrokeshire, until his career took him away from the county, was top scorer, netting four of the goals!
“We had five police cars turn up, but once they noticed the solidarity between the two countries, they posed for photos with us,” said David, son of Lorraine and Nigel Jones, of Upper Hill Park.
