Speeding concerns through a Pembrokeshire village continue to be discussed by the ward’s Community Council.

With complaints from residents highlighting concerns that motorists did not adhere to the 30mph speed limit, at the recent meeting of St Mary Out Liberty Community Council (New Hedges) County Councillor for the ward Cllr Rhys Jordan told members that a digital warning speed sign will be put in place on Broadfield Hill by Saundersfoot Community Council, but if St Mary Out Liberty wanted a speed sign as well going through the village, it would need to be funded by the Community Council at a cost of approximately £2,500.

He said that the Second Homes Council Tax Funding was discussed as a possible means to pay for the sign, as the ‘funding pot’ can be split for various projects.

The issue of vehicles dangerously misusing the exit out of the village, to illegally ‘right turn’ back up the by-pass carriageway was also highlighted again, with Cllr Jordan stating that this matter was still on-going, with nothing likely to change in the near future, but it was in the hands of the Highways department.

Cllr Jordan said that he would keep on eye on the situation and report back if anything changes.
