There's a spring in the step of members of the Hynes School of Irish Dancing as they start 2009 with a number of successes.

The school can now boast four Great Britain regional champions, who are amongst a host of qualifiers for this year's CRN All-Ireland Open championships.

The four - Molly Ashton, Hari Boswell, Naomi Hunt and class teacher, Siobhan O'Sullivan - have won the right to dance at the top event in May, along with assistant teacher, Katie Harries, Katy Izzard, Alice Davies, Siriol Jenkins, Talfan Jankins, Caitlin Cumberland, Shelby Parmanand, Neve Griffiths, Milly James, Jordan Southgate, Georgia Murphy, Charlotte Rees, Zoe Moran and Tess Moran.

Siobhan, who is 18, and a pupil at Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest, has now been running the Hynes School's classes in the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, and Kingdom of Fun, Pembroke, for a year.

She has just been accepted as an associate teacher with the dancing organisation CRN, which will allow her to take exams to become a fully-qualified Irish dance teacher.

In the past year, the school's show dancers have performed at a variety of venues in West Wales, including Pontardawe Festival, Fishguard Folk Festival, Tenby Arts Festival, Pembroke Dock Summer Festival, Pembrokeshire County Show, and Saundersfoot Fun Day, with the latter event providing an opportunity for every single one of the dancers to show their skills.

The school also had numerous successes at dancing competitions in both Wales and Ireland, where Naomi Hunt became an Irish Open champion and several other dancers, including Siobhan, were placed in the championship finals.

There will be a chance for everyone to enjoy watching and taking part in Irish dancing in March, when the Hynes School hosts a St. Patrick's Night Show and Ceili in the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, on Saturday, March 14.

The evening gets underway with a dancing show by the pupils of the school, followed by a lively ceili dancing session, and there will be a bar and food for sale, provided by the Saundersfoot Sports and Social Club.

Shortly after this event, the school has an outing to see Riverdance in Cardiff, before the final practising gets underway for the 2009 Irish Open championships.

The school offers Irish dancing classes for children and young people aged from five to 18 in Saundersfoot on Saturdays and Pembroke Dock on Tuesdays.
