At the first meeting of the 2008/9 programme, it was very pleasing to welcome Cymghorydd Sir, Parch. H. George as our guest speaker (writes M. N.).

Held in the Royal Lion Hotel, Tenby, the meeting began with coffee, tea, Welsh cakes and biscuits, supplied in generous quantities by the hotel. It was an opportunity to pay annual subs (still at £5 pa) and to catch up with other members and take a copy of the programme for the winter season, arranged by Trevina.

Parch. Huw George began by saying that every good preacher has three points to his sermon, and his were '3 Ps'. He then proceeded to give a highly entertaining and very amusing talk on his '3 Ps'. He did not talk about his Pembrokeshire County Council responsibilities for the Welsh language, but he used it.

In a talk which flowed effortlessly between English and Welsh, Huw made it easy for Welsh learners to follow all that he was saying, and therefore to give confidence to those learners amongst us that need to listen to the Welsh language being spoken so fluently and clearly and in a natural context.

The programme for 2008/9, organised by the chairman Mrs. Trevina Vincent and endorsed by the president Mr. Islwyn John and committee members, continues next month on Thursday, November 20, at 2.30 pm in Eglwys Sant Ioan, when Mr. Michael Francis, of the Llyfrgell Cenedlaethol Cymru, Aberystwyth, is coming to talk about 'Artists of Pembrokeshire'.

This is an opportunity perhaps for non-members of the Cymrodorion who are interested in the subject matter to come along. All are welcome. The speakers usually make their talks bi-lingual and are always ready to answer questions after their talk, during coffee-time.

We look forward to greeting more members in November.
