A woman cyclist was taken to hospital on Friday evening after she fell off her bike and sustained head injuries. The 48-year-old woman was badly injured when she came into contact with the kerb in Spring Gardens, Whitland. She was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken in a critical condition to Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen. The road was closed for some four hours while police examined the scene. A police spokesman said that officers were keeping 'an open mind' on the possible cause of the accident. Officers are, however, appealing for anyone who may have seen the cyclist while travelling along that stretch of road between 5.30 and 5.45 pm to contact them on 0845 330 2000.
