A long but successful first season has now drawn to a close for the Tenby United Under 7s. Following the early few weeks where an unexpectedly large turnout emerged, the season has gone from strength to strength, culminating in a series of games after Christmas which have all been won, the majority by a very comfortable margin. Throughout the season there has been an excellent turnout of a central core of players who have worked hard and listened to their coaching team with a maturity belying their junior years. The penultimate run out was as part of the junior section attached to the West Wales Sevens tournament. Two teams were fielded, and gave a great performance, even against sides that were a year older. Early nerves at this step up soon gave way to flowing, confident rugby, and both the Sharks and the Tigers pushed Under 8s teams very close, unfortunately coming off second best. The only Under 7s side in the tournament was well beaten by both teams. Perhaps surprisingly, the Tigers gave a magnificent performance against the Sharks, but the Sharks proved a little too strong at the end of the day. If this squad can stay together, then Tenby can look forward to a bright future. One last trip remains, a family camping trip hosted by St. David's which is eagerly awaited by all, players, coaches and parents, and will give hopefully an entertaining and well-deserved end to the year. Training will restart in September, when hopefully two squads can be put forward for matches. New players will be very welcome in order to support this plan. Details will be forthcoming closer to the time. Players included: Max, William, Thomas, Harri W, Harry C, Ben M, Iori, Dylan, Dominic, Henry, Gethin, Daniel, Ben J, Jack, Harvey, Harvey B, Jamie, Alex, Harri E, Lewis S and Rhys (apologies to anyone omitted). Well done boys, keep up the hard work for next year.
