Simon's Manorbier Stores and Post Office sponsored side made it through to the Pembrokeshire U12s Cup Final after an emphatic and super victory against Hakin at an impressive Clarbeston Road pitch last Saturday. Their reward? A tricky final against Milford at Monkton. Would the team be able to, or allowed to, produce such thrilling form again a few days later? Well, this game lived up to the old adage that semi- finals are often more of a spectacle than the final. Tenby had played superbly against Hakin and Milford had come from behind to beat Narberth - no mean feat! A lovely late spring evening and both sides emerged onto a well-tended and impressive pitch. Tenby were at full-strength and started well, dominating early play. Their reward - an early goal from Elliot. Tenby had the best of the play in the first half and could surely only capitalise on their lead in the second half. But this was not to be the case and Milford started the second half with a vengeance which would continue to dominate throughout the half. Tenby defended brilliantly, each and every player pulling out all the stops to prevent a Milford goal. Nail-biting stuff in a great atmosphere. The final whistle - relief on the touchline and jubilation on the pitch. Tenby's victory, that important solitary first half goal, but it had been hard with both sides digging deep. Congratulations to the Tenby U12s team on your win! You wanted this victory and you made it yours! Thanks as always to coach Simon and his team, the sponsors, the mass of supporters and to Milford for being fair and friendly opponents. And so to the players who made it all happen - Scott, Corey, Tom, Jack, Rhys, Hugo, David, Toby, Sam, Elliot, Daniel, D'Arcy, Nathan and Cheyne - respect! Your first cup final but, one suspects, not your last. So proud of you all! Squad: Scott Cowan, Corey Morris, Tom Grover, Jack Murphy, Rhys Nicholas, Hugo Wellum, David Webb, Toby Rossiter, Sam Butler, Elliot Goldsmith, Daniel Fairlie, D'Arcy Escott, Nathan Farmiloe, Cheyne Lloyd.
