Next spring when a poetic ‘host of golden daffodils’ appears at the Pembroke Dockyard Chapel, it will be thanks especially to hardworking Cub Scouts.

On a November Saturday, 10 members of the 3rd Pembroke Cub Pack, supported by family members and leaders, planted hundreds of bulbs in the grounds of the chapel - today the Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre.

Helping the Cubs were leaders Billy and Dilys Cardy, Lee Murray and Caroline Cashman, family members and Heritage Centre volunteers.

During the week, over 600 bulbs - many generously donated by the town’s Wilko and Tesco stores - were planted in good time for a spring showing.

On hand was Heritage Centre manager Stuart Berry, who said: “We really want the Heritage Centre to be a beacon of colour come springtime, and what better way to celebrate our important place in Wales’ history than with a display of radiant daffodils! We are so grateful to both Wilko and Tesco with their generous donations, as well as all our volunteers who brought bulbs in too - but we couldn’t have done it without the Cubs who braved some miserable weather to help us get them all in the ground.”
