A woman from London stopped by police at Tenby train station in possession of 66.3 grams of amphetamine has been fined in court.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that police officers conducting operations at the train station on July 11 of last year deployed a drugs protection dog as part of the initiative.
“Dai the police dog indicated to Ms Singler’s handbag, and when officers conducted a search, she was found to have the drugs in a camera case,” she explained.
“Ms Singler said she paid £260 for the drugs, but police valued them at £660,” continued Ms Morgan.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that Ms Singler, who lived and worked in London, was visiting Tenby.
“The amphetamine was for her own personal use as she used it to keep her awake in work, but hasn’t used drugs since the incident,” he said.
Magistrates fined Ms Singler £235 for the offence and ordered her to pay costs of £85 and a £24 victim surcharge.
They also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
