A 22-YEAR-OLD driver from Whitland has been banned for drink driving.

Oscar James, of Llys y Crofft, appearing before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on November 4, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when over the limit.

On October 16, the defendant drove a black Citreon on London Road, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The offence carries an obligatory driving disqualification. The disqualification period was set at 12 months, but this can be reduced by 13 weeks provided a course is completed by June 4, 2026.

James was also fined £120, plus costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
