A TENBY driver must pay out over £1,000 for drink driving without insurance or a valid test certificate.

Phillip Procter, of The Green, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on September 2.

The 57-year-old admitted to driving a VW Golf on the road between Tavernspite and Llanteg on August 17 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, 66mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

Procter was disqualified from driving for 20 months and fined £500 for the drink-driving offence. In addition, he was fined £240 for not having third party insurance in force at the time of the offence.

Costs were added, totalling £85.00, and a surcharge of £300.
