A former couple who built a shepherd’s hut and log cabin in Whitland without planning permission have been ordered by a court to pay more than £4,000 between them.
Daniel and Megan Davies both pleaded guilty to non-compliance of an enforcement notice after the unlawful development was discovered on land at Seven Acres, Whitland, in August 2023.
Daniel Davies of Seven Acres, and Megan Davies of The Potting Shed, Whitland appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 1.
Pembrokeshire County Council issued an enforcement notice requiring removal of the cabin and hut on June 21st 2024 but no action was taken in respect of the requirements of the enforcement notice by the defendants.
Barrister Christian Hawley, defending, said his clients recognised they should have complied with the enforcement notice and expressed their remorse.
Mr Hawley told the court that the shepherd’s hut has been removed,
The court fined Daniel Davies £1000 for non-compliance with the enforcement notice.
He must also pay victim surcharge of £400 plus costs in full of £1658.50 for a total owed to the court of £3058.50.
Megan Davies was fined £750 and must pay a victim surcharge of £300.
