A CEREDIGION man will be sentenced at crown court later this month for attempting to incite a minor to engage in sexual activity, and other related charges.
Desmond Small, aged 75, of Cwm-cou, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 2.
‘Indicated Guilty’ was the plea he entered to three charges, namely: 18 or over attempt to cause / incite a girl 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity - no penetration; Offender 18 or over attempt to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to watch / look at an image of sexual activity; and Adult attempt to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Each offence took place between October 23 and October 31, 2026 at an address in Cwm-cou.
Small intentionally attempted to cause or incite a girl aged 13 years old, not reasonably believing she was aged 16 or over, to engage in sexual activity of a non penetrative nature, namely encouraging her to masturbate.
For the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, he intentionally attempted to cause a child aged 13 whom he did not reasonably believe was aged 16 or over, to look at an image of a person engaging in a sexual activity.
He also intentionally attempted to communicate with a girl under 16, the communication being sexual in nature.
Small was committed to crown court on conditional bail for sentencing. The hearing is scheduled at Swansea Crown Court, St Helens Road, for November 23.
To prevent offending, bail conditions are: not to have any unsupervised contact with a child under the age of 18, save for inadvertent contact which could not have reasonably been avoided, to register with the police at Cardigan police station until the case is dealt with, and to live and sleep each night at his home address.
