A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to dealing drugs after roads policing officers in Carmarthenshire intercepted his vehicle over the weekend.

Cole Stevens, from Llanelli, was stopped by officers after he was seen driving a white Renault Clio suspected of being used in the supply of drugs to the local area.

Shortly after 10.30pm on Saturday 28 March, officers from Dyfed-Powys Police’s Roads Policing Unit stopped the vehicle on Capel Isaf Road, Llanelli, and carried out a search under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

During the search, Stevens openly confessed to officers that he was in possession of cannabis, which he immediately handed over to officers.

A further search of the vehicle found a mobile phone tucked under the driver’s seat and a tobacco pouch containing 12 snap bags of white powder, which the suspect confirmed to be cocaine.

A wrap of a white crystalline substance was also seized from inside his sock and a total of £780 in cash from his person.

The 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled substance and was taken into custody. A further search of his home address found several handwritten papers, believed to be linked to drug dealing.

During his detention, Stevens made several significant comments including “I just have to do it to earn a living”, “I’m only selling it to three people”, and “you got me, you have what you need…”.

Drug experts at Dyfed-Powys Police examined all the substances seized and concluded that the number of drugs in Stevens’ possession was beyond what would be considered for personal use. The total value of drugs seized was deemed to have a potential street value of £1460.

Stevens was charged with several offences and remanded into custody.

Appearing at Llanelli Magistrates Court on Monday, March 30, Stevens pleaded guilty to the following offences:

  • Possession with intent to supply cocaine
  • Possession of cannabis
  • Acquiring criminal property (cash)
  • Being concerned in the supply of cocaine between 30 October 2025 and 28 March 2026.

The 19-year-old has been released on conditional bail until his sentencing at Swansea Crown Court on April 20.

Detective Constable Steve Thomas said: “This result highlights our commitment to proactively removing drugs from our streets through targeted and intelligence-based patrols.

“The weight of evidence against Stevens in this case left him no option but to plead guilty to his crimes.

“If you are dealing drugs in the Dyfed-Powys force area, you will be caught and you will be prosecuted.

“We eagerly await the sentencing.”
