A couple who work for Pembrokeshire County Council are putting their best foot forward in aid of Leukaemia Research.
Geraint and Sharon John, of Maenclochog, will be running the 10k Chiquita Bananaman Chase, organised by Leukaemia Research in London on June 25.
Sharon's father, 60-year-old retired farmer Hugh Smith, of Woodstock, died of leukaemia in March after an eight-month battle against the disease.
Sharon's two sisters, Jayne Williams and Katie Smith, and their partners Paul and Michael, are also undertaking the run in Hugh's memory.
Geraint is an assistant surveyor in building maintenance at Pembrokeshire County Council, while Sharon is an assessor care manager at the Assessment and Care Management team, Fishguard.
Jayne owns the accountancy firm L. M. Griffiths and Co in Haverfordwest, while Katie is studying medicine at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Sharon said they all decided to take part in the run before Hugh died.
"He said we'd never do it, so we are determined to prove him wrong!" she said. Their mother, Anita, is lending them strong support in the event.
Various celebrities will setting the pace around the course, including actors from Emmerdale and Spooks.
