Pembrokeshire Under 11s Schools' sides played in the third round of the HSBC Yeoman Shield last Sunday at Tenby. Both sides met South Ceredigion in their first match. The A and B sides competed well and both 'keepers kept a clean sheet. The A side showed some nice passing skills and attacked for most of the game, but could not find the back of the net, while the B side tackled well and went close on several occasions. Both games ended 0-0, so the aggregated score meant Pembs. shared the points. The second set of matches was against Swansea. The A side took the lead early - the first goal to have been scored against Swansea so far - when Martyn Carroll slotted in from a cross by Liam Davies. Swansea equalised in the second half, but Rhys Clutterbuck controlled a long ball from defence and shot into the top right-hand corner - 2-1 to Pembs. The B team had a very close game and they defended strongly, with Nathan Farmiloe and Kieran Rendell making good debuts. They drew 0-0, so Pembs. picked up three vital points. Their final set of matches was against North Ceredigion. The A side drew 1-1, Pembs. going a goal down, before Liam Davies got a touch to an Elliott Goldsmith shot that looked goalbound. The B team ended their day with another goalless draw, with all the boys having played extremely well throughout the tournament. Once again Pembs. shared the points. With Pembs. picking up five points, they stayed second in the table with only one round to go. This is being played in Swansea on March 5.
