Pembrokeshire's cricketing community celebrated a great season at the Annual County Cricket Dinner and Presentation Evening, held recently at the Queens Function Centre, Haverfordwest.
Compared to the previous season, the weather had been good, the season had been incident free and the standard of cricket had been excellent.
In a break with tradition there was no guest speaker. However, everyone enjoyed the entertainment provided by comedian Paul Dazeley, who also hosted the disco after the presentations.
Carew had led the way all season at first team level and in the club awards, Carew deservedly collected the Division One trophy, together with the coveted Harrison-Allen Bowl. Carew skipper Darren Thomas also received the George Cole Cup.
Haverfordwest had been snapping at their heels throughout the season, but had to settle for being bridesmaids in Division One and the Bowl. However, the club collected the Alec Colley Cup, the Martin James Health Club Indoor League Cup and the Ocky White Ladies Cricket Cup.
After an indifferent start to the season, Saundersfoot were champions of Division Two, Llechryd of Division Three and Herbrandston of Division Four. Herbrandston Ladies also won the Skelfayre Ladies Knock Out Cup.
Pembroke Dock were champions of Division Five and invincible Kilgetty were champions of Division Six in their first season back in league action.
The young cricketers of Llanrhian won the Ormond Youth Cup for the first time, having been runners up in 2001.
