Wet weather cut a swathe through the Antur Insurance Pembroke County Cricket League programme on Saturday.

Of the 29 matches due to be played, 18 were abandoned without a ball being bowled and of the 11 that started, nine failed to finish.

In Division One, only one match got underway and that was at Hook where the Whitland bowlers were unable to take a wicket in the first seven overs as Hook reached 28 without loss. Jamie Phelps was 13no and Ben Field was at the other end with 8no.

In Division Two, joint leaders Cresselly Seconds travelled to Fishguard and were 93-3 when the match was abandoned after 20 overs.

Iwan Izzard had scored 33 and newcomer Neil Williams 28.

No matches started in Division Three, but a couple did get under way in Division Four.

Lawrenny Seconds did start batting away to league leaders Johnston Seconds and had reached 76-6 before coming off the field.

David Jones scored 28 and Chris Buckle 20, while for the Johnston team Steve James took 2-8 and Andrew Page 2-25.

In the other match started, Burton Seconds were 51-1 off 14 overs at home to Pembroke Seconds, with Andrew Cromwell having scored 24 and Graham Jenkins 21.

In Division Five, county under 13 player George Wilkins took the first three wickets for three runs away to Llangwm Thirds, but the Llangwm team recovered from 8-3 to reach 89-3 after 25 overs.

Lyn Rees and Mark Roach led the recovery, with Rees 55no, including nine 4s, and Roach 20no.

The match was played at the 'Postage Stamp' ground at Burton and young George Wilkins finished with figures of 3-15 from his six accurate overs bowling from the road end.

In one of two matches completed in Division Six, Lamphey Seconds scored 100-6 away to Pembroke Dock Seconds.

Skipper Chris Forth scored 30 and Gethin Llewellyn 21, while Andrew Boyett took 2-13 for the Dock team and Jonathan Hay 2-43.

Pembroke Dock Seconds reached 101-1, with Billy Wood 49no supported by Jeff Moseley with 21.

Mervyn John scored 33no and Paul Edwards 31 in a first wicket partnership of 62 for Hundleton Seconds at home to Narberth, before the Narberth bowlers picked up five wickets in quick succession.

Iwan Bowen Rees took 2-11, Brynley Toms 2-33 and Jordan Howell picked up the other wicket to fall.

When the game was abandoned, the Hundleton team had reached 76-5 from 16 overs.
